In July 2018 two coaches filled with Year 7 and Year 8 Outwood Academy Portland students went on a visit to the Costa Brava in Spain. We stayed in a small resort in a hotel next to the beach which was great because we went in the evening to play games and eat ice cream. We spent a day in Girona where we climbed the city walls, went on the land train and ate in a Spanish Restaurant. Students ordered their food themselves in Spanish!
Other highlights of the trip were visiting the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona which was really impressive and fun to sit up high in the press box and on the team seats at the side of the pitch. We also saw the main sights in Barcelona including Parc Güell, the Sagrada Familia and some of the other famous buildings designed by Antoní Gaudi. We walked round a huge food market called la Boquería on La Rambla – one of the most famous streets in the world where we also stopped for a meal and did some souvenir shopping.
For most students their favourite part of the visit was the day at Port Aventura Theme Park. Some of the rides are huge and the day was filled with laughter and screams. This summer it will be the turn of the Year 7 and 8 French students who will have the opportunity to visit Paris. Let’s see if we can have as much fun there!
