OUTWOOD ACADEMY PORTLAND AND OUTWOOD ACADEMY VALLEY
ADMISSIONS ARRANGEMENTS 2027/28 CONSULTATION
The admission authority would also like to consult on the following changes to our Admissions Policy for 2027/28:
- At present all primary schools across the catchments of both Outwood Academy Portland and Outwood Academy Valley are named as link feeder schools to both secondary schools. In order to foster deeper relationships and collaboration between primary and secondary schools, we propose to name the following schools as link feeder schools to each secondary school:
Outwood Academy Portland:Outwood Academy Portland
Haggonfields Primary and Nursery School
Holy Family Catholic Primary School
Kingston Park Academy
Langold Dyscarr Community School
Worksop Priory CofE Primary Academy
Ramsden Primary School
Sparken Hill Academy
St Annes CofE Primary School
St Lukes CofE Primary School
Gateford Park Primary School
Whipman Woods Flying High Academy
Outwood Academy Valley
Norbridge Academy
Prospect Hill Infant and Nursery School
Prospect Hill Junior School
Redlands Primary and Nursery School
Sir Edmund Hillary Academy
St Augustines Academy
St Johns CofE Academy
Gateford Park Primary School
Whipman Woods Flying High Academy
- We also believe that, wherever possible, children should be able to attend their closest secondary school. In order to bring the geographical catchment areas in line with this, and the above primary catchment areas, we propose to change the catchments as outlined on these maps.
- As a result of the above two changes, the oversubscription criteria would be amended as follows:
The school will admit a child with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) if the Plan names the academy, before any of the following criteria are applied:-
1. Children looked after by a local authority or previously looked after children. This includes those who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
2. Children who live in the catchment area and are attending a linked primary school at the closing date for application, with a sibling who is currently on roll at the academy at the point of admission.
3. Children who live in the catchment area at the closing date for application with a sibling who is on roll at the academy at the point of admission.
4. Children who attend a linked school at the closing date for applications with a sibling who is on roll at the academy at the point of admission.
5. Other children who live in the catchment area at the closing date for applications.
6. Children who are attending a linked primary school at the closing date for applications.
7. Children who live outside the catchment area and who, at the time of admission, will have a brother or sister attending the school.
8. Other children who live outside the catchment area.
In the event of oversubscription, within any criterion, preference will be given to children who live nearest to the school as the crow flies. Distances are measured from the main administrative point at the academy to an address point (using eastings and northings as defined by Ordnance Survey) to the child’s home using Nottinghamshire County Council’s computerised distance measuring software.
The proposed
admissions policy reflecting the above change, can be read in full via the linked document.
