What are the times of the academy day for Year 7 students?
All students should be in school at 8:15am prompt
A movement bell will sound at 8:20am
What are the lunchtime arrangements for Year 7?
Year 7 students have their lunch as a year group, between 12:30pm and 1:00pm. This ensures there is minimal queuing time and that they can eat together in their first year at the academy. The catering provided by the academy operates a “Pay Online” system. Parents can load student accounts from home, or students can add money using finger recognition stations at the academy. We will provide log-on details for parents in due course. Students are welcome to bring a packed lunch.
How is the school uniform organised?
We will provide a full uniform for all Year 7 students. Our uniform supplier, Trutex, will attend each of our primary feeder schools during June/July, to measure Year 6 students. If your child attends a non-feeder school outside of the Worksop area, you will receive an order form and covering letter by post. Please follow the instructions carefully and return your order form by the date specified in the letter.
Uniform packs can be collected from Outwood Academy Portland; details of which can be found above, when you can also exchange uniform which does not fit and place orders for any further items you may wish to purchase. However, we recommend that you order extra uniform at the beginning of the summer holidays, to ensure arrival before your child starts at the academy in September. Additionally, each student will require a pair of plain black shoes, along with some non-marking trainers for PE.
Jewellery, hair and makeup – are there any do’s and don’ts?
No jewellery is allowed, except a wrist watch and a Medic Alert necklace or bracelet. No body piercings, including ear, nose and belly button, are allowed.
No nail polish and no false nails.
Any make-up worn by older students should be very discreet. Students are asked to remove make-up if it is not discreet.
Hairstyles should be sensible and colours should be natural. No student will be allowed into lessons with unnatural hair colour. Hair accessories should be discreet, no scarves or bandanas (unless for religious reasons).
What equipment will my child need?
A pencil sharpener
How do I apply for my child’s bus pass?
Bus passes can be requested from Nottinghamshire County Council and there are two way of doing this:
1. Telephone Nottinghamshire County Council on 0300 500 8080, choose option 4 then option 2.
2. Online at Nottinghamshire.gov.uk/schooltravel-under16, from here there is the option to apply online or download an application.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs McClune on 01909 471010. Alternatively you can email: email@example.com or use the form below.
Following the changes to Government advice, from Monday 23 March our schools will be closed, except for providing childcare to a small number of children. During the period of closure we will not be able to collect correspondence sent via post. There are also only a small number of staff in the academy making it difficult to answer the telephone.
Therefore, where possible, we ask that you contact us via this contact form.
